The best way to make a cookie is to start with pie. After 3 years baking pies for farmstands in our home kitchen, we opened the Me-Oh-My Café & Pie Shop in 2010. To round out our offerings, my mother’s cookie recipes were put to work. To our surprise, the cookies became as popular as our pies. Two years later we were voted best chocolate chip cookie in the Hudson Valley.
The cafe has closed but we're still baking my mother's cookies exactly the way she did when I was a girl. And when a fresh batch comes out of the oven, it still brings me back to our kitchen in Philadelphia with cookies cooling on the rack and sweet smells floating in the air.
